What Is Hematite?

  • Chemical Composition: Hematite is an iron oxide mineral with the chemical formula Fe₂O₃.

  • Origin : Hematite is found in many regions around the world, including Brazil, South Africa, Australia, the United States, and China.

  • Crystal System and Habits: Hematite belongs to the trigonal crystal system and typically forms in tabular, massive, or botryoidal habits. It can also appear in crystalline or granular forms.

  • Crystal Family or Group: Hematite is part of the oxide mineral group.

  • Hardness and Durability: Hematite has a hardness of 5.5 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale, making it relatively durable but still requiring care to prevent scratches.

  • Colour: Hematite is typically metallic silver to grey, but when powdered or in earthy form, it appears as a red or reddish-brown colour.

Methods for Cleansing and Charging Hematite
